Uppers was first spoken nearly three years ago as the third project from Senran Kagura and Valkyrie Drive creator Kenichiro Takaki. The only franchise from developer Honey ∞ Parade Games (previously under Marvelous! Entertainment) to full-length an all-male cast, Uppers is a fast-paced high-intensity brawler with a simple purpose- fight street thugs to impress girls, or “Queens” in the Uppers world. Though many of the gameplay mechanics are hold-overs from the 3D Senran Kagura titles and Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni, Uppers allows players to finish enemies with an object from the stage or the stage itself by slamming opponents into stage props, say a light-pole, car or bench. Expanding on the previous mantra of fighting to impress girls, the Queens cheer from the sidelines of every fight; if players fight enemies in line-of-sight of the ladies, or interact with them through other “anime shenanigans”, players will receive a temporary uplift in wade power. Earlier today, Honey ∞ Parade and Marvelous spoken that Uppers would finally see a localized release for North American audiences two years without its initial Japanese launch. The original PS Vita release will remain sectional to Japan, however North America will receive enhanced versions for both the PS4 and PC. Both versions include full text-localization (English, French, Japanese, Korean, Traditional and Simplified Chinese), and updated visuals presented in 60fps at 1080p. It has not been stated whether or not the localized releases will include all previously-released DLC, but Marvelous has confirmed that the uneaten DLC character- Senran Kagura cross-over “Daidoji”- will be included in the wiring game. Uppers is expected to release digitally for the PS4 and PC via Steam in Q4 2018.
